Nov 21, 2015. Fox triad rear shock problem. I've just received a specialized 2006 fsr frame. More than happy. The seller said the rear shock would need a full service, not one to be put off I. Specialized fox triad shock? Got a mate at work who has had problems with his shock and had it repaired in the shop a couple of months after purchase of the bike. So i thought it would be easy to find a new shock with REAL pro-pedal that wouldn't break the bank. The Triad internals differ from the Float line so it can't be Pushed:(. I considered an RP23, but it would cost me too much to have the shock stroke shortened thanks to Specialized custom shock 7.5x1.75.

Fox Triad Rear Shock
Is the squishing noise normal - kind of sounds like a creaking? I run at 180 psi (have tried at 100 and 200 psi and noise still there) and not tried changing damping yet but doubt this will make a difference.
Thanks all

- Squishing noise is common - it's the damping. Creaking is not.I don't do smileys.

Parktools - Thanks for the reply....It happens just on downward stroke literally for the first few mm of travel no matter how hard i push down on rear of bike. Sounds like a quiet rusty hinge ?? I get the usual squish/whoosh when rebound set to full slow on extension.
Guess it does aound like aomething squishing. Performance seems fine though and fox found no problem with it and rebuilt it all with new seals. I am thinking I should just get used to it.....or should I take it back? Bike shop did not seem worried about the noise.... - I think I've come up to this problem on my Float R too. The first bump I hit at speed and I can hear some sound, just as you described. The following bumps are noise-free, but if I run on flat road for some time, and hit another bump later, I hear the sound again. And, again, the bumps that follow soon don't make any noise.
Anyway, I didn't find what caused the problem. But, it was after I was playing with shox pressure, and some float fluid leaked out thru the valve. But then again, the noise went away after a few rides.
Maybe record it on video and post it on youtube?0 - Someone on another forum suggested it was oil in the air can...There is quite a bit of oil on the shaft...it does sound like oil is being forced and bubbling under pressure through the lip seal (hence the squish) Would have thought it would clear after 200 miles of riding though.....maybe just need to rack up more and see how it goes.
Very impressed with fox and SRAM service though - both shocks sent for repair and back to LBS within 3 days - so must have been same day turn around if you factor in a day each side for posting.
Just waiting for my bloody reverb to come back now as the main air seal failed. Not having too much luck with my air cans at the moment!!!!
Oh and good idea about video - will stick something up later - I've had problems with a Triad on my stumpy 2010, and had to get it repaired at my cost. Squelchy noise seems common but rebound knob was very stiff (almost unusable after repair). With the quick turnaround, seems to me Fox know of the problem but are still shipping poor product!!
The thing is I'm keen to purchase a Camber Expert, but may go for the Elite which comes with a RockShox Ario SL.
Any thoughts? - Mine does the same, its completely normal. The oil on the shaft it supposed to be there for lubrication.
