In my '00 328Ci I've had the dreaded airbag light on for. oh. almost 2 years. I finally got sick of looking at it and a few weeks ago I ordered the Peake R5/SRS read/reset tool.
It came in today's mail so I finally was able to check it out. I had always assumed it was because I had pulled the seats out of the car to clean the carpet - that was when the light went on - and it hadn't gone off since. I figured I'd see an error regarding the seat and just reset the code and light and it would be all good.
I plugged it in and I got an 01.05 error - 'Firing Circuit Passenger Airbag' -- actually to be more precise I had 32 of those codes in memory - I had to hit 'Go' 32 times until I got to the '--' finally. I attempted a code reset - but to no avail the light is still on and I still have 32 code 01.05's in memory. I attempted about 6 or 7 resets after that - still have the full memory bank full of 01.05's (32 of them). And the SRS light glows as pretentiously as ever.
I don't know what exactly this code is indicating, what parts of the wiring harness or plugs I should investigate, what sort of modules and sensors and where they are, etc. Even on RealOEM the selection of airbag info is almost 0 - I can't find much about what is wired where, etc.
Ideas? Suggestions? anyone else have an 01.05 error? What was needed to get it resolved? Where to begin.???
